Wausau Kayak / Canoe Corporation was formed to provide an opportunity for individuals to gain whitewater training, have fun, and watch some of the best in the world compete at Wausau Whitewater Park. Competitions fall into several types… we bid for hosting rights to national and international events and we also have developed and host events for everyone from beginners to more advanced paddlers. We offer annual Training Camps for all ages from children to adult… beginning to intermediate paddling skill levels. You can have fun playing on the course or practicing your paddling during one of the scheduled recreational releases.

Each of the pages on this website give you more information. You can register for events on the event page (2008 forms coming soon), sign up for training on the training page, volunteer on the volunteer page, and get information on when the course is on to play on the recreation page. The Connections page takes you to information from our connections all over the world, a not to miss page.

Check out this video of the course by Troy from Iowa, a first time visitor to Wausau Whitewater Park on September 1, 2007. He shot the course with water on and then water off. You will be able to get an idea of what Wausau is like. Thanks, Troy! Course Video

Where can building paddling skills take you? Wausau has been priviledged in our 30+ year history to watch young paddlers develop in Olympic competitors. Athletes such as Rebecca Giddens who won Olympic Silver in the 2004 Olympics are incredible. But the course is open to anyone with any whitewater skills and we are willing to train and are connected with other training resources.

If being in the water isn’t your idea of fun, we invite you to come down and watch the competitors in both freestyle and slalom show off their skills at any one of the annual competitions. While you are at it, enjoy our food vendors or purchase Wausau Kayak / Canoe Corporation t-shirts and other merchandise. Come down and visit… See you on the river!

Please Note: Julie Walraven is Wausau Kayak / Canoe Corporation's Operations Coordinator for our course and non-profit operations. If you have a question, e-mail wkcc@dwave.net and she will respond. If she doesn't have the answer, she has resources to find it. We have a highly knowledgeable, diverse board of directors as well as an exceptional volunteer team filled with whitewater expertise, training skills, and business knowledge. If you prefer to talk to a real person, rather than e-mail, Julie can be reached at 715-574-5263 (9am - 8pm CST. )
