Online Volunteer Registration
We are greatful for your interest in volunteering. Wausau Kayak / Canoe Corporation (WKCC) couldn't
function without the participation of volunteers like you. To become
a part of one of this year's events, simply fill out the form below,
and we will do our best to place you in the area(s) you requested.
If you have any questions, call Julie at (715) 574-5263. On the
event date, please go to the registration area located in the back of the Park Department builidng at 212 River Drive in downtown Wausau to check in. Benefits of volunteering include a season T-shirt, lunch on event dates, as well as the opportunity to make new friends and become a part of helping to make Wausau Whitewater better.

Volunteer Category Descriptions
Judging: An integral part of each event. We will provide training. An all day job...right on the river
Merchandising: Promotional items, shirts and sweatshirts. Promote our products and make sales.
Lunch Preparation: Coordinate setup of lunch, clean up and make sure all food products are safely put away.
Program Distribution: Mix and mingle with the crowd and give them information about kayaking/canoeing and WKCC.
Registration: for competitors and volunteers Strong organizational skills a plus! Fast Paced environment, computer skills helpful. Generally right on the river.
Runner: Runners move up and down our course, providing water to thirsty volunteers and relaying communications from scoring / timing to judging as well as posting results.
Safety: (training provided) Critical to a safe race season is a well trained Safety Crew. The WKCC Safety Coordinator is arranging for training sessions to reinforce the skills of our Safety crew. Training will cover swift-water rescue situations as well as general safety training. Information will be available regarding the special safety needs of whitewater rodeo. Everyone on the WKCC Safety team must hold current certification in CPR and First Aid (may be obtained after signing up, but must be prior to the event).
Set Up: It takes a crew of dedicated volunteers to hang gates, put up banners, tents, start/finish areas set up tables, etc., as well as river cleanup.
Tear Down: What goes up must come down. See “set up.”
Timing: Operate computerized timing system PC skills required!
Scoring: Accuracy and good listening enable you to record incoming scores via the headsets.
Housing: Certain events need housing for competitors, some prefer a home environment. When teams are involved, they like to stay in groups.
