Entry Fee:
$20 for registrations received prior to June 9th
$25 for registrations received after June 8th
Your registration fee will go toward supporting the growth of Wausau RiverFest in the future as well as supporting other Wausau Whitewater initiatives such as the most affordable kayaking lessons in the Midwest, Swiftwater Rescue Training for area emergency personnel, and future programs with organizations such as First Decents Young Adults with Cancer. Also, you will have a chance to win one of dozens of great prizes from the Green Bay Packers and be a part of the First Annual Wausau RiverFest!
RiverFest Schedule:
Packets can be picked up beginning at 9:30 am at Wausau Whitewater Park
Participant meeting will take place at 10:45 to explain the route and daily activities
Race will start at 11am
RiverFest will kick-off at 9:30 a.m. with the start of the Freestyle Competition at Washington Street Bridge. Throughout the day, RiverFest food will be sold, give kayaking a free try in the calm water at the Oak Island Boat Landing, Take an extended lesson, visit the vendors on site, or sit and enjoy the Freestyle Kayaking Competition, Hooligan Race, and Boatercross. This is an Outdoors Event. Dress for the weather, This is expected to be well attended rain or shine.
RACE TIMES:
Registration Opens at 9:30am.
5K will begin at 11:00 am.
Instructions and other race day information will be announced at 10:45 am.
Please be in the starting area prior to announcements. Runners toward the front and walkers in the back. Course time limit 90 minutes. This event will be self timed. We have a race clock at the start/finish area for you to check as you cross the finish line. Top Male and Female finishers will both receive a prize.
RULES OF THE ROAD:
The entire race route is planned on the RiverEdge Parkway Trail and Sidewalks. Please run/walk in single file, except when passing. Participants must run or walk on the RIGHT SIDE of the road; this is where mile markers at each mile will be located. Obey race officials and Yield to emergency vehicles. Their difficulty should be based upon your experience and comfort level in running or walking. Any participant on the course after 12:30 pm will need to finish course route on their own, as all Event Staff will be back at Whitewater Park enjoying RiverFest at that time.
RACE ROUTE:
Our unique race route starts and finishes at wausau whitewater park, enjoy the scenery of the river as your run takes you along the rivers edge trail and through fern island. Restroom facilities will be near the start/finish line. Both Routes Start and Finish in the Park Department Parking Lot at 200 Block of River Dr. A water station will be located at the halfway point. Located at the finish line will be bottled water and snacks. Strollers and baby joggers are permitted on the 2 mile walk route only; They must start at the rear of the group. No dogs are allowed on course route and electronic musical devices such as Ipods are discouraged.
SHOWERS & LOCKERS:
Portable Toilets are on site at Wausau Whitewater Park. Unfortunately, there are no shower or locker facilities available at Wausau Whitewater Park for participants to use before, during or after the race. Participants are responsible for their belongings.
PARKING:
Please carpool if possible. Parking areas are located on 1st Street in the parking structures near Wausau Center Mall and Library, next to the Farmers Market. Parking will not be available in the Park Department or VFW Parking Lot as access is needed here in case of emergency and operations of the event.
